Queer folks and those in the GLBTQIA community typically have to learn early on to be willing to “betray” others (aka have good boundaries) in order to honor and love themselves. Most of us learn early that people-pleasing is futile, but being out as queer or gay seems to expedites that process. So do other circumstances, certainly create those expedited learning opportunities. But when you come out, You are more visible.When we alchemize the hatred and turn it into fuel, we can learn to accept ourselves are and start loving who you are. Gays especially learn early that we’ll never please everyone and that there will always be haters and people that don’t like us or accept us. And we choose ourselves more.
