Engineers design machines with tolerances because real systems cannot operate in perfect alignment forever. Human beings need similar margins. Suffering brings exhaustion, mistakes, and diminished capacity, but these do not amount to total failure. Today we consider how grace makes room for our limitations and allows us to be imperfectly human.
