This is Chapter 1 of 'The Road to Serfdom' book review Kevin of Engineering Politics podcast and I are producing, in order to help people understand the arguments Hayek made almost 80 years ago are even more relevant for us today. The Road to Serfdom was originally published in 1944. In it, F.A. Hayek wrote one of the most enduring and substantive oppositions to Socialism and collectivist ideology ever printed. Such an important work has gone underappreciated and underdiscussed for far too long, particularly due to its significance for our current moment.
