In 2 Kings Chapter 19 Hezekiah goes to the Lord concerned about the Assyrian siege. His father Ahaz, and later his son Manasseh go toward the Assyrian gods. It was a common misconception that the gods of the strongest nations were the strongest gods, but there was plenty of Israelite history to demonstrate that the Lord was the strongest God (and only God) and he didn’t exercise his strength when he wasn’t followed.

Isaiah the prophet receives and incredible prophecy which comes to pass, and the Assyrians are vanquished miraculously. This miracle is hard to explain by historians who don’t want to trust what the Bible records. Even ancient Egyptian traditions explain this as a miracle.
