In Numbers 13 we finally come to the moment when the spies are going into the land. Its well over a year since they have left Egypt. Moses is going to name the twelve spies from the twelve tribes.

We should keep in mind that all of these people had been born into slavery and served thier entire lives as slaves. They have now been free just over one year, having come out of Egypt and seen what God did in great majestic power. They were also all leaders, so very influential.

The problem for them was Nephilim. In Genesis 6 it also talks of Nephilim, and all sorts of wild theories have abounded about this “super race” etc. It’s not magical, these were just bigger people, or giants.
