Today’s reading takes us to Exodus 27, where the tabernacle courtyard comes into view. The first thing seen when entering the place of worship is the bronze altar, reminding us that access to God begins with sacrifice. Before fellowship, before nearness, before the deeper places of worship, there had to be a substitutionary sacrifice.
