This fortnight we’re traveling back in time to our spring(!) recording with Karen Mack of the University of Maine and Crow Curation. We're talking ceramic technology on the Maritime Peninsula and, in particular, at the Rumford Falls sites on the Androscoggin River in Maine. After a primer on regional ceramic manufacture, Karen tells us why we need to run more radiocarbon dates on pottery encrustations, discusses the importance of ceramic analysis in CRM, and describes some future research directions.
