Mundane Magic with Kenzie Main
When was the last time you asked your body what it needed before asking your calendar what it demanded? In this very first guest episode, we meet musician, voice teacher, and creator Kenzie Main for an insightful, vulnerable and playful conversation about breaking free from the rigid scripts we've been taught. From healing childhood wounds around creative expression, to discovering the power of working with your energy instead of fighting it, this discussion invites you to trust your body's knowing. In this episode we explore: Unlearning Perfectionism: How classical training and societal expectations silenced our creative voices, and how we are learning to sing again. The Resonance Cycle: An introduction to Kenzie's unique planning system that lets you map activities with your energetic states rather than creating a strict to-do list. The Parental Shift: Why letting go of control during the chaos of parenthood became the catalyst for deeper self-trust and creativity. Existential Frameworks in Practice: Using Astrology, Human Design, and Gene Keys as tools for reflection, not rigid rules to follow. Finding the Magic in the Mundane: Grounding your energy and returning to your body through a connection with nature. The Power of Pausing: Why creating space for "doing nothing" is actually the secret engine for generating fresh ideas. (Bonus: Learn how to pronounce Minnamari's strange, Finnish name!) About Our Wonderful Guest Kenzie Main is a singer, voice teacher, and creator known for her authentic approach to voice and expression. She is the creator of the Resonance Cycle, a planning tool designed to help people align their tasks with their internal energy levels, fostering a life of less friction and more resonance. Playful Skeptic's Guide to The Gene Keys
Introducting the Gene Keys: a gentle yet powerful framework that helps you navigate the chaos of daily life by pausing and contemplating the wisdom that's already present in your life. During my second parental leave in 2025, I found my shadow behaviors again surfacing with startling clarity. In all the overwhelm I experienced, I needed something different than the information-heavy approach I knew from Human Design. Enter the Gene Keys: a system built on the same foundations (I Ching, Astrology, Neutrinos) but with a radically different philosophy. Instead of filling the mind with new data, it invites you to unlearn, to pause, and to feel into what is already there. In this episode of Mysterious Studies, I share my personal journey into the Gene Keys. We dive into the Shadow-Gift-Siddhi model, discuss why I decided to train as a Gene Keys Guide, and explore the value of pausing instead of rushing, and why a playful, experimental approach to "woo" might actually be the most grounded way to live. Whether you are a skeptic wary of dogma, a parent navigating the shadows, or simply curious about how to turn "junk DNA" into a portal for self-discovery, this conversation offers a nuanced, playful, and deeply personal perspective on treating life's triggers as gifts. Contemplation Questions for You What frameworks or lenses have you used to understand your own "shadow" behaviors? Where do you land on the spectrum between needing scientific proof and finding value in metaphorical storytelling? Have you ever experienced a "gentle container"—a system that didn't demand perfection but invited you to pause and feel? How do you navigate the tension between the urge to "fix" yourself and the practice of simply observing? If you feel like sharing your contemplations with me, I'd love to hear them! If this sounds interesting to you, I warmly recommend you to build your own connection to the Gene Keys. As a starting point, you can create a free profile and access a free 3-day course on the official Gene Keys website. See the video version of this episode on YouTube.
Skeptic's Guide to Human Design
Is Human Design just another restrictive way to categorize ourselves, or can it be a "helpful box" that gives you the language to understand your own energy and navigate life with less friction? In this episode of Mysterious Studies, I share my personal journey with Human Design, a system I approached with skepticism but found unexpectedly useful. From navigating postpartum anxiety and parenting challenges to discovering a new language for understanding energetics and emotional dynamics between myself and my child, this conversation explores why I've come to view these frameworks as "helpful boxes" rather than absolute truths. Whether you're curious about Human Design, skeptical of "woo" systems, or simply looking for practical tools that work in everyday life, this episode offers a grounded, nuanced perspective. Contemplation Questions for You What frameworks or lenses have you used to understand yourself and others? Where do you land on the spectrum between skepticism and openness? Have you ever experienced a "helpful box"—a system that wasn't perfect but served you anyway? How do you navigate the tension between self-care and caring for others? If you feel like sharing your contemplations with me, I'd love to hear them! Skeptic's Guide to Existential Frameworks
Welcome to Season 2 of Mysterious Studies! In this episode, I present some background to why I decided to start exploring and experimenting with various existential frameworks/ perspectives/ tools such as Human Design, Gene Keys and Astrology. In so doing, this episode sets the scene for upcoming episodes where I will go deeper into these frameworks, one by one. If you want to enlist my perspective in contemplating or expanding the view on your own life, you can now book a session with me through mysterious.studio/guidance See the video version of this episode on YouTube.

Imagination Exercise: Creating Your Inner Space
This is an exercise connected to the Dreams, Visions and Imaginings episode. In this imagination exercise we will create an inner space using your imagination. This will be a space that will function like an inner home or harbor where you can come to seek guidance from the inner/inbetween realms or come to practice using your inner senses. A space like this proved to be very valuable for me in my journey of starting to look inwards, as it made such an unfamiliar and at times scary journey feel safer and more familiar. It provided me with a place to land, instead of completely jumping into the unknown. See the video version of this episode on YouTube Access the Audio File for the guided part of this episode here. Read the Written Notes here. You can use these notes to do the exercise on you own, or record your own version that you adjust according to your own wishes. Resources: This exercise is loosely inspired by a similar exercise from Laurie Cabot’s Book of Shadows, which is a very useful resource for different meditation and visualization exercises. I have gone through all of them myself and been fascinated by the deeper and different layers that have opened up as a result. But if you don’t identify with the term “Witch” or approaches described as "witchcraft” this may not be the resource for you. The way I see it, these approaches are something that everyone has a natural birthright and ability for, and we don’t necessarily need to define them as any kind of witchcraft or magical practice. So I have personally taken some steps back from calling it witchcraft of magic, but you can describe it in that way if it makes it more fun for you to test it out, or if it makes you feel more empowered to use these terms. If not, then just consider this a continuation of a meditation exercise and you can think of it in more neutral terms.
Imagination Exercise: Connecting to Your Inner Senses
This is an exercise connected to the Dreams, Visions and Imaginings episode. In this exercise, I share a kind of “diagnostic tool” for getting to know, and testing out what your capability to visualize or imagine looks like. Is it easier for you to see or hear or feel? Do you have a way of visualizing in images, or as smells or just energies? In this exercise, I will first guide you into a meditative state, and then go through a list of 10 items connected to different senses that you can feel into. If you want to save the info, you can take a pen and paper and write out the ten numbers, and then next to each number, write out how strongly you felt that particular sense. For example from one to ten, with one being not at all and 10 being totally immersed. I recommend you to close your eyes during the exercise, but if you want to write down how strongly you felt each sense, you can peek at your pen and paper inbetween or try to scribble with your eyes closed. Or you can try to remember how it felt. See the video version of this episode on YouTube Access the Audio File for the guided part of this episode. Read the Written Notes for this episode. You can use these notes to do the exercise on you own, or record your own version that you adjust according to your own wishes. Resources: This diagnostic tool/approach is inspired by the more comprehensive diagnostic test that is presented in Mary K. Greer’s book 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card (a book that is an incredible resource for both tarot but going way beyond that, to also areas such as accessing the intuition or imagination, so I can highly recommend it for both). I have simplified the approach to focus only on the most usual senses: touch, smell, vision, hearing, taste.
Dreams, Visions and Imaginings
Dreams are real experiences, and there is a different type of knowledge that can be gained by closing the eyes and listening inwards. In this episode I share some of my first experiences of learning to trust the inner voice/intuition/subconscious. See the video version of this episode on YouTube. Connected to this episode, I also share two imagination exercises: one for connecting with your inner senses, and another where you can create your own inner space that functions as a safe harbor from where you can travel further to access wisdom from the inner world. You can find the exercises as separate episodes in the episode feed. If you want to access the bonus episode where I share the dream that changed my life direction, you can join my Substack as a paid subscriber. Books mentioned in this episode: The Secret of the Golden Flower by Lü Dongbin, Richard Wilhelm (Editor), Cary F. Baynes (Translator) The Red Book: A Reader's Edition by C.G. The Paradox of Perspective
Can we ever truly expand our view beyond our view? I don't know, but I seem to have a need to try. See the video version of this episode on YouTube (This time I have even created some visuals for the different symbols of the frameworks I discuss. But, just listening also works, if you prefer to do that.) In this episode I discuss two frameworks that can be used as a way to become aware of, and to try to expand, your perspective or your approach to life: the four functions in Jungian Psychology, and the four directions of the Native American Medicine Wheel. Resources mentioned in the episode: Seven Arrows by Hyemeyohsts Storm Fourdirectionsteachings.com - Website collecting teachings about the four directions by Lillian Pitawanakwat Psychology of the Unconscious by C. Knowledge is Overrated (or Misrepresented)
If knowledge is like an all-you-can-eat buffet, what would you eat? In this episode, I discuss the complex subject of what knowledge is and how it can be approached. A list of the books mentioned in the episode: Naiv. Super by Erlend Loe (A book questioning the need to be knowledgeable.) Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta (A very fascinating book about indigenous knowledge, and much more.) The Reflective Practitioner by Donald Schön (A book about practical knowledge and reflecting in action) A list of a few of my favorite quantum physics books: The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra The Quantum Universe: Everything that Can Happen Does Happen by Brian Cox and Jeffrey R. Forshaw Meeting the Universe Halfway: Quantum Physics and the Entanglement of Matter and Meaning by Karen Barad
Boundaries are Useful
Exploring the idea of boundaries through my experiences in close relationships. See the video version of this episode on YouTube This is a kind of continuation to the Energy is Real-episode, where I talk about energy, so if you haven't, you might want to check that out first. The aura book I mention in the episode is Karla McLaren's Your Aura and Your Chakras: The Owner's Manual.
