Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Mississippi Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd.
If you stepped outside early this morning, you felt something shift. We started mild at 42 degrees after yesterday's rain, but that cold front just kicked the door wide open. Right now? Tupelo sits at 31 degrees. Jackson's at 36. The Gulf Coast is holding on to 44. But the wind is *screaming*.
Gusts are hitting 30 miles an hour. And they're not letting up. Along the coast, there's a Wind Advisory until 3 PM. But the bigger concern today? Fire danger. Humidity has crashed to 17 percent in spots. And with these winds, the National Weather Service issued Red Flag Warnings for nearly the entire southern half of the state. Any spark could turn into a fast-moving wildfire. No outdoor burning today. Not even a little.
