Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Here's the setup. Cold air to the north. Milder air to the south. and right where they collide? A tight ribbon of snow setting up across southern Minnesota this morning. In the next 24 hours. This is what meteorologists call frontogenetical snow. Basically, when two air masses crash into each other in a narrow zone, they squeeze out moisture like wringing a sponge. The result? Locations 50 miles apart could see completely different days. Southern Minnesota gets hammered. Snow fires up around 7 A.M. and peaks near noon. The Minnesota River valley down toward the Iowa border picks up 2 to 4 inches. Cottonwood. Lincoln. and Lyon Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 3 P.M. Highs struggle to reach 21 degrees. The Twin Cities sits right on the northern edge.
