A massive Canadian high pressure system parked itself right over the Great Lakes today. and folks, it brought a gift nobody asked for. Bone dry air and temperatures that bite.
In the next 24 hours. That 10.7 inches of fresh snow from overnight? It turned Michigan into a giant reflector. Clear skies plus fresh snow cover equals heat escaping fast. That's why thermometers bottomed out at 12 degrees before dawn. Classic radiational cooling doing its thing.
Up north, today barely cracked 22 degrees. That sunshine looked gorgeous through the window, but step outside and your lungs reminded you real quick. Slide down toward Grand Rapids and Muskegon. and you touched 32. Freezing, but at least the snow wasn't squeaking underfoot. Over in Southeast Michigan. Detroit and the Thumb landed right around 30 degrees.
