A clipper system is racing across the Great Lakes right now, dragging a band of snow behind it like a curtain closing on February. and folks. It's got some teeth.
In the next 24 hours. Snow moves in between 5 P.M. and 8 P.M. The heaviest band locks onto the I-96 corridor from Muskegon through Grand Rapids to Lansing. That stretch could pick up 1 to 3 inches by morning. Some spots might push 4 if the band decides to stall. That's enough to make your evening drive feel like a suggestion rather than a plan.
Slide southeast toward Detroit and the Thumb. You're looking at a half inch to 2 inches, with the juicier totals between I-69 and I-94. Snow tapers after midnight as the whole system scoots east.
Now the real story. Once that clipper clears out. Arctic high pressure drops in from Canada like an uninvited ...
