We woke up to 60 degrees and scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder before sunrise. That early rain cleared fast, leaving us with partly cloudy skies and a mild start. But here's where it gets wild. We're about to blow past normal by 41 degrees. South Central Kentucky hits 84 degrees this afternoon — the hottest spot in the state. Eastern Kentucky climbs to 83. Central Kentucky reaches 80. North Central Kentucky tops out near 81. That's not just warm. That's record-breaking territory for early March.
