Social Media: Friend or Foe?
Social media has become a central part of our daily lives since it has become popular over the past decade or so. As much as we use it, it is important that we also take a step back to question how it’s being used, both by us, and the companies that profit from it. By gaining a better understanding, we may then find the ways to get the best out of it without taking the side effects.
The Law of the Lawn
Is the American Lawn worth the effort it takes to maintain, or can we find other ways to utilize this space for more than aesthetics? This episode discusses all the ways our lawns are connected to our ideal of the way we use resources and the harm they might be causing. Hopefully this sparks some ideas on how to best utilize the space that surrounds us.
Motivation Dissertation
The new year has begun, and people are suddenly getting motivated to make changes in their life. As we all know, it can be hard to keep up the inner drive as the year goes on and our expectations seem to never be met. As we have also struggled with aligning ourselves with change in our lives, we hope that you can relate to our personal experience and thoughts on motivation, planning the future, and getting in touch with inspiration.
We’re All on a Diet
This episode takes you through the latest cultural debate about what we should and shouldn’t eat, how our evolutionary history has shaped these arguments, and ultimately back to the present situation with confusion about what the “proper” diet should be. It shouldn’t be complicated, so we hope to help you better digest it all to find where you stand.
Here We Are Now, Entertain Us
The average American has a diverse palate of movies they’ve seen, music they’ve listened to, and information that they know, as it relates to the most significant parts of our life as well as the mundane. When we spend such vast amounts of time entertaining ourselves, it makes you wonder, what is it that draws us to it? What do we get out of it and how does it affect our overall well-being? A special guest joins us this episode to share his perspective on the change that has taken place.
What the Family?
Our modern society is technologically developed, highly specialized in function, and seems to be more connected than ever before, but have we lost touch with where we come from? This episode explores the concept of family, our human origins in communal/tribal living, how it has transformed into the modern family of recent history, and how we are affected by this transition.
It's Not the End of the World
In the year 2020, there has been a lot of uncertainty, frustration, and fear which has led a lot of people to conclude that the end must be near. This episode talks about how this trend has been going on for quite some time and how it might not be helpful to cling to a doomsday scenario if we actually want to help in the process of positive change.
