Notas del episodio
Commissioned to make propaganda for Stalin’s farm collectivizations, the Soviet cinema’s great visual poet Alexander Dovzhenko instead delivered an impassioned hymn to nature. There's a lot of historical context you need to know about before watching EARTH, but once you know it, DAMN. What a beautifully told, visually sumptuous film from the silent era.
