In the next 24 hours. We're starting at 31 degrees with dense fog blanketing the Chicago metro and northern Illinois. Visibility is down to a quarter mile in spots, so take it slow on the roads. Watch out for hidden slick patches where the air is still below freezing. That fog burns off by mid-morning.
Then the real show begins. Southwest winds ramp up to 20 miles an hour, gusting to 40 this afternoon. Central Illinois, you're heading for a sunny 70 degrees. Chicagoland and the northern suburbs climb into the low 60s. That's a solid 20 degrees above normal for late February.
