Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Illinois Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th, and folks, winter is reminding us who's boss.
Step outside right now and you'll feel it. Northern Illinois wakes up at 23 degrees. Central Illinois sits at 24. Chicagoland's the warm kid in class at 28 degrees, but let's be honest. That's still the kind of cold that makes your nose hairs freeze on contact.
Here's the thing. Winds are keeping things interesting. Up north, you've got a steady northwest breeze at 10 miles an hour. That's enough to make 23 feel more like 15. Drive south toward Springfield and it softens to 7 miles an hour. Over in Chicago, winds shift from the west. Still chilly, but not punishing.
