Gabriel, brother of Paul Ernest Castaway of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, remembers Paul as someone with a good heart who was always laughing, joking, and willing to give the jacket off his back to someone experiencing homelessness. Two days prior to Paul being killed by police in Denver, Colorado on July 12, 2015, Gabriel shared a final handshake and hug with his brother, where Paul's last words were, "I'll see you later," and Gabriel responded, "I love you brother." Deeply moved by the loss, Gabriel took part in Native Lives Matter, traveling and protesting with other families to bring solidarity to the community.
