Family can be one of the greatest sources of joy in our lives, but it can also be the source of some of our deepest pain.
Favoritism. Jealousy. Divorce. Rejection. Competition. Anger. Broken relationships. Patterns that seem to get passed from one generation to the next.
Joseph knew what it was like to grow up in a dysfunctional family.
In Genesis 37, we're introduced to a 17-year-old Joseph and a family filled with tension. His father, Jacob, openly favored him over his brothers. His brothers resented him. Competition and jealousy were everywhere. And before long, that family dysfunction would lead to devastating consequences.
But Joseph's story also shows us something incredibly hopeful:
Your family history does not have to determine your future.
