Summary:

After learning of his plans to relocate to New York, Scarlett finagles Ashley into managing one of her lumber mills. Melanie and Ashley purchase their first home, which becomes the center of social activity in Atlanta. Scarlett gives birth to a daughter, Ella Lorena. Frank forbids Scarlett from leaving the house alone after a recent lynching. Melanie sends a former convict, Archie, to become Scarlett's bodyguard and drive her on her rounds.
