First Chronicles 27–28 shows the importance of organization, stewardship, succession, preparation, and wholehearted devotion to God.
Chapter 27 describes the people responsible for Israel’s military service, tribal leadership, property, finances, livestock, agriculture, and royal administration. David understood that a nation could not function effectively without trustworthy people overseeing different responsibilities.
Chapter 28 then records one of David’s final major addresses. He gathers Israel’s leaders and publicly commissions Solomon to build the Temple.
David gives Solomon the plans, resources, organization, and spiritual instruction he will need.
But David’s greatest instruction is not about gold, architecture, or administration.
