Interview with author, professor and bruja Maria DeBlassie, with an author-read extract from her short story HUNGRY BUSINESS. We discussed writing the 'ordinary Gothic' and 'hopeful Gothic' not only as a vehicle for social anxieties and a process for exposing generational trauma, but also as a mode for moving on from trauma and creating a sense of hope going forward, particularly in relation to telling Own Voices stories for women of colour in the American context.
