Why is it that we always want to have control or the final say over a thing/matter?

Im reminded of the famous meme that ran through social media.... a little child holding a small bear and Jesus was with his hand extended asking for the child to give him the small bear. What the child didn't know is that Jesus was holding a huge teddy bear behind his back ready to give the child a bigger and better one as the little child gave up its own small bear.
