It's not as if we haven't seen this coming for a long time, but the saga of Lane Kiffin, his incessant lying to Ole Miss and others, the incomparable greed from sources such as the Big 10 and the SEC, to the new found greed of the players themselves, has capped the inevitable. Sure, fans will still love their teams and games, pretending nothing has changed. But that is the illusion. College football has immersed itself in a new reality, one where rules, regulations, fairness and a sense of what is truly "right" and "wrong" is over.
