We grew up as immigrant kids starting from nothing — no furniture, strict but loving parents, and a constant need to stay out of trouble in order to survive. We learned early how to adapt, how to be tough, and how to keep going even when the odds weren’t in our favor.
From a rough neighborhood and challenging schools to building careers, pursuing education, and finding purpose, our paths were shaped by resilience. For my brother, that journey included military service and surviving cancer — a life-altering experience that redefined what strength, success, and gratitude truly mean.
