Folks, we've a classic March battle unfolding right over our heads. A warm front is stalling just to our south, pulling Atlantic moisture into a shallow layer of cold air trapped at the surface. That warm air is winning the fight up aloft, turning snow to sleet and rain. But down here at ground level? It's hanging on to freezing. That setup creates the icy signature we're watching today.
In the next 24 hours. This afternoon, you're seeing a wintry mix falling. Snow accumulation stays light, generally just a coating to an inch. The real threat is a thin glaze of ice from freezing rain, especially in the hills. Highs top out around 35 degrees. It feels raw with that damp east wind blowing at about 6 miles an hour.
