In this episode we're talking about the marketing promise behind "long-life" or "7-year" coolant.

You've probably seen the jug on the shelf claiming protection for up to 225,000-270,000 km or 7 years. Sounds maintenance - free, right? Not so fast.

Read the the fine print on the back of the bottle and you'll find the catch: you still need to follow the vehicle manufacturer's maintenance schedule or that warranty is meaningless.

After more than 40 years working on vehicles, I've seen what actually happens inside cooling systems when coolant is left too long or when different types of antifreeze get mixed together. What starts as "long - life " can quickly turn into a chemical cocktail that requires a full cooling system flush and neutralization before refilling.
