There are now upwards of 70 or 80 photographers and videographers on the sideline of a big high school football game — on top of the 10 to 15 actual credentialed media members who used to be the whole crowd. Arizona's athletic association has a name for the new arrivals: "pajama paparazzi." I read the Front Office Sports piece on it and I have thoughts. In this video I get into what's actually driving it — cheap cameras, high school NIL, and the fact that college recruiting now runs almost entirely through short-form social content — and whether the pushback from schools and state associations is a real safety concern or just gatekeeping aimed at people who didn't come up through traditional media.
