Episode 4: BIPOC Mental Health Month
This episode focuses on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Mental Health as BIPOC mental health month, previously known as, National Minority Mental health awareness month July is coming to an end. I am honored to invite a friend Naimo from YYGS to join us and share her insights on the importance of recognizing BIPOC mental health. Throughout the episode, we introduces the background story of its naming, leading challenges for BIPOC mental illness, systemic barriers such as language and medical difficulties, our personal experiences, and steps as high schoolers to involve and advocate for BIPOC mental health and promote inclusivity. Episode 3: Perfectionism & Self-induced Pressure
This episode introduces the concept of perfectionism and self-induced pressure, continuing with the discussion of stress and anxiety from the first episode. I was very glad to invite Dr. Lisa Damour, a clinical psychologist, and a New York Times bestseller author, to talk about one of her expert fields, perfectionism. Throughout the episode, we discussed "what is perfectionism," "what triggers it," "health vs. unhealthy perfectionism," "the overlap between perfectionism and depression," and "how do we utilize this 'superpower' in our daily lives." Dr. Damour has suggested some useful strategies and interesting concepts in this special episode. I am very excited to publish this episode that focuses on a unique but important topic for adolescents at the current time.
