My February 16th adventure began with breakfast at the hotel, but I saved room for the highly recommended bakery in Ocho - what a treat! The journey to Aus was spectacular, though entirely on unpaved roads through amazingly beautiful scenery. Traveling without reservations during low season, I relied on my Garmin GPS to find accommodation. After checking out Petra's Inn (no Petra to be found) and finding another place too expensive, I discovered the wonderful Cactus Tea and Garden, also called Dauras Rest Camp. What a gem! Located on the desert's edge, it featured detached cabins with four single beds and a unique open-air bathroom with no roof - surprisingly functional with hot water heated by wood fire.
