Los Angeles County Board Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell represents the Second District—home to many of Southern California's historic Black communities, including Leimert Park, Baldwin Hills, View Park-Windsor Hills, West Adams, South Los Angeles, and portions of Inglewood and surrounding neighborhoods.

Before serving on the Board of Supervisors, she represented Los Angeles in the California State Senate and Assembly, where she became known for championing criminal justice reform, children's health, foster youth, women's rights, and economic equity.

She is also the woman behind the Crown Act, which began in the California legislature and has become a national movement for Black hair anti-discrimination.
