In John 6, Jesus uses the miracle of feeding thousands as a launching point for one of the most comforting teachings in all of Scripture. After satisfying a crowd with five loaves and two fish, He contrasts Himself with ordinary bread. Regular bread satisfies temporarily, but Jesus, the true bread, offers something permanent. That contrast becomes the foundation for understanding what it means for a believer's salvation to be truly secure. Before unpacking His promises, Jesus makes clear that genuine belief is not casual interest or historical acknowledgment. To believe in Jesus means to trust fully that He is the Son of God, that He died in our place, that He rose from the dead, and that His finished work alone is sufficient for salvation.
