Why evidence alone doesn't produce faith

Many people assume that if someone just had enough evidence, they would believe in Jesus. But the Bible tells a different story. In John 5, Jesus presented the Pharisees with an overwhelming case for His identity, calling on the testimony of John the Baptist, the Father, His miracles, and the Scriptures. Still, they rejected Him. Their problem was not a lack of evidence. It was a hardness of heart rooted in three deeper issues: a guilty conscience that drives people to suppress the truth (Romans 1:18-21), a love of sin that makes people prefer their way of life over surrendering to Christ, and a spiritual blindness that only God Himself can remove (2 Corinthians 4:3-6).
