Ephesians: Alive in Christ

Ephesians 1:15–2:10 | Pastor Anthony Watson What does it really mean to be alive in Christ? As we continue our journey through Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, Paul prays that our eyes would be opened to the hope we have in Jesus and the incredible power of God at work in us. Then comes one of the great contrasts of the gospel: we were dead in our sins, but God, rich in mercy and because of His great love for us, made us alive with Christ. This is not something we achieve or earn. It is the gift of God’s grace. “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ… it is by grace you have been saved.” — Ephesians 2:4–5

Ephesians: Every Spiritual Blessing

Ephesians 1:1–14 | Pastor Anthony Watson What does it mean to know that, in Christ, we have already been given every spiritual blessing? As we begin our journey through Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, we discover that Paul doesn’t start by telling Christians what they need to do. He begins by reminding us of what God has already done. We are chosen and adopted by the Father, redeemed and forgiven through the Son, and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Along the way, we also explore a simple way of reading Scripture — looking behind the text, in the text, and in front of the text — as we seek to understand God’s Word and allow it to shape our lives today. Before behaviour comes belonging. Before instruction comes identity. Before our response comes God’s grace. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us… with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” — Ephesians 1:3

Nothing Held Back

She breaks it and pours it out. Others call it wasteful. Jesus calls it beautiful. The perfume was precious. But Jesus was more precious still. What might it look like for us to trust Him with everything?

The God that Jesus Reveals

Sometimes the images we carry of God become distorted—and those distortions can shape the way we see ourselves, the way we see others, and the way we live.
