Episode 28 shifts from cosmic horror to mystery and exploration as the party returns from the Hunter's Dream and heads back toward Bergenwerth in search of Lady Maria. With Master Willem gone and only his abandoned robes remaining, the hunters find themselves chasing clues while dealing with the fallout of previous encounters and their increasingly strange transformations.

Things become complicated when a letter connected to the noble house of Cainhurst sparks a heated debate. Some party members want to investigate a summons from royalty, while others insist on staying focused on Maria and the Beast Plague. The disagreement creates some of the funniest roleplay of the episode, especially as Dominicus attempts to defend the sanctity of the postal service.
