Whatsss up!Last episode Yort and Deez discussed ideas surrounding what drives elites & the social games that everyone has used to create a meaningful reality in modern times. This reminded Deez of his Freshmen year philosophy class when they discussed The Allegory of the Cave from Plato's Republic. In this episode the boys thought it would be fun to reread this famous philosophical work & (attempt) to break it down while relating the themes to the modern world. The break down starts around the 1 hour mark so feel free to skip to this point if that sounds intriguing enough where you would prefer to not sit through the first half where they talk about:Effective forms of marketing & influencing consumers A new idea involving a tech-fueled community garden Issues with the basic understanding of evolution & how new species are formed' And more! We hope you enjoy! The boys are back with another installment of 40th Street. This is the first episode in while without a theme or guests, so get ready for updates to their life in Newport, attempts to answer some of the most pressing, philosophical questions of modern times, and the classic goofy stories & banter you have come to expect & love. Specifically, Yort & Deez discuss: -Brain recognition (& non-recognition) of patterns based on genetic features of different populations - The Mandela Effect & kids cereal -The Silicon Valley Bank failure, the modern game promoted by society to give purpose to life, & who the true elites are and their motivations -Deez's recent insights from reading The Bible and much more! Tenets of Existence with Socradeez, Dave, and Tim
Hi there! Apologies for the mini hiatus, but were back with a new episode. Troy was away for this one so it just is Deez, recurring guest Tim, and our latest guest Dave. Deez, Tim, and Dave go way back so strap-in for a fun episode full of personal references, many laughs, and (hopefully) answers to the most pressing philosophical questions of our time. Specifically, the guys discuss: The historical periods they would like to experience and thrive in How modern developments are shaping culture and human behavior West Coast vs East Coast culture The fundamental needs of humans to experience a fulfilled life And much more! As mentioned before Dave, Tim, and Matt go way back, so apologies if the conversation gets derailed by inside jokes & m0ments of laughter at the idiosyncrasies they have come to develop over their long friendships. Specifically, we compare and contrast the decentralized & centralized nature of their media networks, as well as the personal backgrounds and personality traits of these two figures that may explain their unique approaches to growing their empires. This is the first of a series of upcoming episodes where the hosts attempt to break down various trending topics, concepts, and anything of particular interest. Happy New Year y'all. In this episode Yort and Deez take a different approach and try something a bit different, 2022 was a great year for the folks of 40th Street so why not attempt what several other media figures do around this time of the year: reflect on events that occurred in 2022 and look ahead to 2023. Specifically, they discuss figures who gained a lot of recognition in 2022, a timeline of events, their biggest personal and collective lessons learned, cultural highlights across technology, sports, music, and film, their New Years resolutions and predictions of what may go down in America in 2023.
