We pop off the top of the show with a little memento mori vis-à-vis the untimely demise of the DHS' Disinfo Squad which was a recent feature here on the Ow. Then we check in on La France and their holy war against the mongrel English language via the shock troops of the 21st-century culture wars: gamers. Then we spend the rest of the show trying to make sense of this country's insane gun culture and it's relationship to the internet, school-shootings, and tech-based efforts to redress it that are proving woefully inadequate. As part of this, we dive into Mack's excellent recent piece in Gizmodo that you can read here about fancy new VR interventions in police training and their effects or lack-thereof on our boys in blue.

We are back, better late than never, with a triple-stuft episode complete with a very special guest. Friend of the podcast and Music Industry Professional (MIP) JJ is on to talk streaming economy stuff but not before we dish on the recent collapse of the crypto and NFT market and its ramifications as well as various and sundry related stories and settle once and for all if inordinately expensive drawings of monkeys represent a great leap forward for technology, art and the Information Superhighway that we're all careening down, brakeless and screaming.

We are back to talk about the latest appendage to sprout from the eldritch carapace of the DHS as well as briefly touch on the actually chilling recent Supreme Court news regarding Roe v. Wade. Then, we're onto lighter and more optimistic fare including the recent success of the Amazon Labor Union and a potential change in management over at the freaking bird app.

The Ukraine Episode

The boys finally break their silence on Ukraine as many have long demanded, taking the opportunity to investigate some of the creepy and opportunistic ways that western surveillance tech has fluttered down to the battlefield like so many carrion crows. We also talk about the NYC subway shooting a few weeks back and what moronic reaction we can expect to see from our squawling newborn mayor about it.

We return to the pulpit to query why iPhone's are trying to turn everyone into little Petra Collinses and what it means for the next time you want to take a picture of your cat or a sunset that you then immediately delete cause it's boring and not as cool as when you saw it IRL. We go on to dish on the latest hot gossip surrounding Grimes and Elon Musk's secret baby and then we check in with Spot in what is effectively now a recurring segment on our favorite autonomous surveillance entity. Then we talk big ol internet pipes, TSA face scanners, and more good stuff like that.
