Episode 15: Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

It's the long awaited showdown between two 80's Horror Heaveyweights! In one corner we got the Dream Demon himself, Freddy KRUEGER! And in the other corner it's the Mama's Boy Back from Hell, Jason VOORHEES! Who will leave the battle victorious, and how many teens' lives will be lost in the crossfire? We're your referees, Hayley and Craig, podcasting live from the big event here on the MPGP Podcast! Get ready for some Immortal Kombat! Ding, Ding 🔔 🤼‍♂️ 🥊 These two have plenty of murders under their belt, and each villain has suffered their share of deaths as well. Freddy vs. Jason is the long awaited face off between the horror genre's two greatest mascots, first teased at the end of Jason Goes to Hell TEN YEARS AGO! That's a lot of time spent developing this movie in Pre-Production Hell; luckily there was Jason X to hold over fans in the meantime 😎 Topics discussed include Freddy's favorite word, Jason's long walk from New Jersey to Ohio, the nu-metal soundtrack, Jason as a pinball, and of course, our favorite kills!

Episode 14: Jason X (2001)

Where is there left to go for a horror franchise that has already been to Hell, and Manhattan (or as we like to call it 'Fun Hell')? The Hood? 🥴😬 Yeah lets leave that one to the Leprechaun franchise and just go with the other option: SPACE! Yep, the 10th Friday the 13th movie takes place in space (and 450 years into the future). All of the usual futuristic, space movie tropes are here- Cryogenic Freezing ✅ Big Space Ship ✅ Android ✅ Android Nipple Pasties ✅ Nano Ants ✅ BFG ✅ Uber Jason ✅ This movie is basically the bastard love-child of the movies Alien (1979), and Encino Man (1992), oh, and splice in some Robocop (1987) DNA 🤖 Anyways come for the cryo head smash scene, stay for the Uber Jason in a virtual-reality simulation of Crystal Lake whipping around two horny teens in sleeping bags. You might just have some fun.

Episode 13: SAW (2004), SPIRAL (2021), and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

So we SAW (😏) Spiral (2021) in theaters, which prompted us to go back and watch the original Saw (2004) and now we are pretty much hooked on the franchise, so we thought it was a no-brainer to talk about these two films for this episode! Spiral stars Chris Rock, Sam L. Jackson, and That Guy From Handmaid's Tale. It's a nice, fun update/side story in the franchise with some decent traps. I think the original Saw probably needs no introduction; It's great! During the recording of this episode we came to the realization that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) starring Gene Wilder is 100% a Saw film. I mean think about it... all those kids were having their morality put to the test, and they definitely all died right?? Anyways listen to the episode for more on that. Episode 12: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)

MPGP is back from our week-long hiatus to bring you a new and improved MPGP! Yep, that's right, we've tweaked our format slightly, and hopefully for the better. Basically the new format is MPGP: Oops all Bantah! To test out this new format we'll be talking about Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993). If you've been keeping count, JGtH marks the ninth installment in the franchise as well as the second time the word "Final" has been used in the subtitle 🤓 Apparently people don't like this movie? What the fuck is wrong with those people? Maybe they don't like the fact that Jason straps a nude victim to a table and shaves him before possessing him French style- oui oui! 😝 We think the haters probably just don't like having a good time 😏 This style of so-bad-it's-good horror flick is basically our bread & butter (or should we say hot dog & donut?) Episode 11: Friday The 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)

Alright back to the good stuff. The last Friday the 13th wasn't our favorite, and well, this one isn't either, but at least we liked it! How can you not; it's called JASON TAKES MANHATTAN? Though a more accurate title might be JASON: WET AND ON A BOAT. This is one slimy Jason. Somehow this movie still manages to be entertaining, even though the entire movie you're asking yourself, "When the fuck does Jason take Manhattan?" This movie is the most fun and wacky of the series thus far! We just wish it could have fully lived up to the title. Oh well, maybe someone should remake it 👀 Things we want to happen in the remake: Jason pets a bodega cat Jason in the Broadway musical CATS Jason sells mixtape cds in Times Square Jason interrupts The Late Show and gets interviewed by Colbert Jason plays goalie in a Rangers game Jason recorded on the subway and posted to New York Nico's Instagram Jason eats a bacon egg and cheese Yankees Fitted Timbs Seriously, someone consult us on doing a remake. Anyways this movie is pretty good! Jason punches a kid's head clean off after a rooftop boxing match -nuff said

Episode 10: Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)

We didn't think it was possible, but it happened; we found a not-so-great Friday the 13th flick. 🥴 Though we didn't love this movie, it's still a Friday the 13th film, and it's still Jason, so it's not all bad. Out of all the possible routes they could have taken the franchise post Jason Lives, this is what they came up with? Zombie fish Jason vs. knock off Carrie? And there's not even that much gore or boobs? What were they thinking!?? Though we have to admit, Jason looks fucking sick here and the score by Harry Manfredini isn't half bad either. Episode 9: Terrifier (2016)

MPGP's first non-80s horror movie! 😱 Terrifier is the tale of a wicked, evil clown, out for tricks (hold the treats) on Halloween night. Art the Clown is probably the scariest clown in movie history, and that's coming from two fellow Clown School alum. Maybe it's because Art majored in Mime with a minor in Bodily Dismemberment. 🤡💀 Where this evil, terrifying, NARSTY, movie lacks in plot and levity, it makes up for in its absolutely disgusting practical gore effects, the design of the killer, and overall creepy vibes thanks to its striking look. Art might not have side-splitting jokes, but he does have a big garbage bag full of body-splitting props 😏 Listen for more clownery!!

Episode 8: Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6 (1986)

Alright y’all for the latest episode of MPGP we are talking about what might be our favorite Friday the 13th movie, Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives! We aren’t quite sure why zombie Jason is so much thicc’r than all other iterations of the character but we aren’t complaining 🥵 This Jason has a dump truck ass, razor sharp nipples (they appear to be bursting through his shirt?), yellow gardening gloves, and a face full of maggots Seriously though, this is both the funniest and scariest (and most well read?) Friday the 13th film and it is loaded with tons of moody lighting, 80’s cheese, great edits, Alice Cooper bangers, creative kills, and cheeky meta-humor. Watch this movie!

Episode 7: Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (1985)

Never believe promises made on the box art of blockbuster horror franchise films. What happened to the last movie being The Final Chapter? Well, they lied to us, but hey, we're not complaining! Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning somehow manages to be new and divisive amongst fans of the series while also following the exact same formula as the last 4 films 🤷‍♂️ This movie has lots of boobies; a boobie moobie if you will. This movie continues the Tommy Jarvis saga; oh, they grow up so fast. This movie has a character named Demon who gets killed on the toilet after a classic through-the-stall duet with his girlfriend. Apparently Friday the 13th falls on enchilada night this year 🥴💩 More kills, more nudity, more memories 😊 All aboard the MPGP Bantah-Bus! Last stop: Camp Blood 💀

Episode 6: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)

The Final Chapter? Oh c'mon Jason, we know you still got some fight left in you. I mean there are eight more films that follow this one after all... For being a bear Jason sure does love to play possum. Title aside you are in for a treat with this one; this is peak Jason, in all his bloody hockey mask glory! This movie also marks the introduction of Tommy Jarvis, a 12 year old boy who likes making monster masks and spying on the party house full of hot 'n' horny teens next door. If you've watched the Friday series up to this point then you know Jason loves to crash cabin parties. Maybe Jason will have a dance off with Crispin Glover? Or end up with twins? Watch vintage porn with Teddy? Maybe all of the above! Thank G-d Jason brought the corkscrew! Defenestration for everyone!
