A former chairman of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Trustees, who played a pivotal role in bringing football coach Bill Belichick to the school, has left the board. John Preyer, whose term as chairman ended in July, but remained a member of the board, submitted a letter of resignation last week.
