Root Cause Analysis (The 5 Whys) In Coaching

The Bridge: Building Coaches, Connection, and Curiosity by Taylor Steinke

Episode notes

Taylor and G.K. explore the use of "Why" questions in excavating root causes of client challenges. Common practice is to avoid asking "Why?" when coaching clients or direct reports and instead ask "What", "How", "When", and "Where" reflective questions.

There are times, however, when in the proper setting, asking "Why?" is the most effective route to discovering the root of the problem.
