Season 2 - #2 No Excuses Real Inspiration Why Running is important Hosted by Scott Marshall

Running offers a wide range of benefits for both physical and mental health. Here are some of the key advantages:1. Improved cardiovascular health: Running is a great form of aerobic exercise that works your heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Regular running strengthens your cardiovascular system, improving your overall endurance and reducing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.2. Weight management: Running is an effective way to burn calories and shed excess weight. It boosts your metabolism, helping you maintain a healthy body weight or reach your weight loss goals. Running also helps tone muscles and increase lean body mass.3. Stronger bones and joints: Running is a weight-bearing exercise that promotes healthy bone density and reduces the risk of osteoporosis. It also strengthens the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around your joints, improving their stability and reducing the risk of injuries.4. Increased energy levels: Regular running stimulates the release of endorphins, which are known as "feel-good" hormones. This can boost your mood, reduce stress, and increase overall energy levels. Many runners also experience improved sleep patterns and higher levels of alertness during the day.5. Mental well-being: Running has been linked to improved mental health and a decreased risk of depression and anxiety. It can serve as an effective way to alleviate stress, enhance concentration, and boost self-esteem. The sense of accomplishment after completing a run or achieving personal goals can also contribute to a positive mindset.6. Social benefits: Running can be a social activity. Joining a running club or participating in races allows you to connect with like-minded individuals, which can provide motivation, support, and a sense of community.7. Enhanced longevity: Studies have shown that regular running can increase life expectancy. The combination of improved cardiovascular health, weight management, and reduced risk of chronic diseases through running can contribute to a longer and healthier lifespan.8. Improved cognitive function: Research suggests that running can have positive effects on cognitive abilities. It may enhance memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. Regular physical activity, including running, has also been associated with a reduced risk of cognitive decline and age-related neurodegenerative diseases.Remember to start and progress gradually, wear proper running shoes, and consult a healthcare professional if you have any underlying health conditions. Enjoy the many benefits that running can bring to your life!

Season 2 - #1 No Excuses Real Inspiration Why Mental health & Mindset is important Hosted by Scott Marshall

Mental health can be improved and supported through exercise for several reasons:1. Improved mood: Exercise releases endorphins, also known as "feel-good" neurotransmitters. These chemicals reduce pain and trigger positive feelings, leading to an improved mood and a sense of well-being.2. Stress relief: Engaging in physical activity, such as cardio or strength training, can help reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, such as cortisol. Regular exercise provides an outlet for pent-up emotions, promoting relaxation and relieving tension.3. Increased self-esteem: Regular exercise can help boost self-confidence and self-esteem. As you set and achieve fitness goals, you develop a sense of accomplishment and pride in your abilities. This positive self-perception can translate into greater overall well-being.4. Better sleep: Exercise can promote better quality sleep, which is vital for mental health. Physical activity can help regulate sleep patterns, reduce insomnia, and improve sleep duration and quality.5. Cognitive benefits: Exercise has been shown to enhance cognitive function, including memory, attention, and overall brain health. Regular physical activity stimulates the production of new neurons, enhances synaptic plasticity, and improves blood flow to the brain, which can improve mental clarity and focus.6. Reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression: Studies have consistently shown that exercise can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. Physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which can improve overall mood and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.7. Social interaction and support: Engaging in exercise can provide opportunities for social interaction and support, whether it's participating in group fitness classes or joining a sports team. Connecting with others who share similar interests can help combat feelings of loneliness and improve overall mental well-being.It's important to note that while exercise can be beneficial for mental health, it should not be viewed as a replacement for professional mental health treatment. Consulting with a healthcare professional is always recommended for individuals experiencing mental health concerns.mindset plays a crucial role in overall well-being and can greatly impact mental health. Here are a few ways in which mindset matters:

Until about 10 years ago, I took my health for granted, eating all the wrong foods. The more I learned, the more my awareness grew of the huge impact of what you eat and drink on your skin, your energy, how fast you age, your confidence, your moods and therefore your career, relationships and all other aspects of your life! Some people CAN eat rubbish (or 'diet foods') and stay slim. You can do deprivation diets and lose weight (then bounce back as soon as you return to old habits). But if you want energy, glowing skin, good health, confidence and to stay looking and feeling happy and youthful then it might be time for an overhaul. As a coach, I will work with you to identify the roots of your habits, set goals, and work towards them one achievable step at a time. The end goal is to re-wire your brain, so your new habits become the new (and enjoyable) normal. And yes, the bonus is, when you build these new, enjoyable, healthy habits, you can reach your optimal weight, no deprivation required. I've done the journey from the start, with the help of coaching, so have the personal experience to be there for you each step of the way.
