Here, I argue that there is a clear conflict in the words and actions of a would-be intruder. In one hand, the intruder acts and behaves in a way that is protective; sneaking around and escaping. In the other hand, he or she is careless by writing a long note, likely after the murder; and use items from inside of the home, to commit the crime, then leaving those items behind. And, the note's author, knew that there would not be a ransom money exchange because it would be a matter of time before the body was found. Yet, he or she spent close to an hour writing a rambling letter, attempting in almost every line to hide, and deceive. Even the writing style was likely deceptive.
