{"id":8844,"date":"2021-07-30T16:27:19","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T16:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rss.com\/blog\/?p=8844"},"modified":"2024-01-18T16:27:10","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T16:27:10","slug":"how-to-write-a-podcast-script","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rss.com\/blog\/how-to-write-a-podcast-script\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Write a Podcast Script"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Writing a podcast script using a template can save you time, provide consistency in the format of your episodes, and help keep you on-track if you have guests on your show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kate Erickson of the wildly popular podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/katelerickson.medium.com\/the-best-way-to-write-a-podcast-script-5173069f351\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entrepreneurs on Fire<\/a> said, \u201cOn average, I probably <b>save an hour on every single episode<\/b> I create by using a podcast script template.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"podcast-script-example\"><\/span>Podcast Script Example<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re worried that using a template will make you sound stale and scripted when recording, don\u2019t be!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trick is not to script out the entire episode and simply read it during your show. Your script is there to be a helpful resource to guide you through your show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Items that you&#8217;ll want to include in your script could include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sponsorship mentions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your call-to-action<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your intro and your outro<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Topics that you want to address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An outline of everything you would like to cover in your episode<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of a script that you can use for your own podcast:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Name of Your Podcast<\/b>:<b><br>Podcast Episode Number<\/b>:<b><br>Episode Title<\/b>:<b><br>Intended duration of the episode<\/b>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Intro<\/b>: you can write out your entire intro if you choose to, or keep it open with just the highlights of what you need to say<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Topic 1 or question 1 for your guest(s)<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Sponsorship break (if applicable)<\/b>: You can write this out, or just add your highlights of what to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Topic 2 or question 2 for your guest(s)<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Topic 3 or question 3 for your guest(s)<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Sponsorship break (if applicable)<\/b>: Include additional topics\/questions if you have more than 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Call to action<\/b>: If you\u2019re not using some kind of call to action, you\u2019re missing out on some big opportunities!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Outro<\/b>: This may be the same pre-recorded message every time, but if it\u2019s not you might want to script what you want to say at the conclusion of your episode to let you audience know you\u2019re wrapping up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pro Tip<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avoid adding too many topics to individual episodes as these can cause your audience to mentally check out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/rss-com\/images\/w_1024,h_683,c_scale\/v1624303925\/lifestyle-7\/lifestyle-7-1024x683.jpg?_i=AA\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"should-you-create-a-podcast-script-template-yes\"><\/span>Should You Create a Podcast Script Template? Yes!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By using a podcast script templates you can simply adjust your messaging and topics for each episode. What makes using templates so effective is that you can simply make additions or remove items as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also repurpose your script and use it to write your show notes! For example, you could write one for each of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>For sponsors<\/b> &#8211; what to say and things to mention to fulfill deliverables requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> For interviews<\/b> &#8211; how to introduce the guest, questions to ask<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> For solo episodes<\/b> &#8211; if it\u2019d just you and the mic, how will you fill the time?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> For round robins<\/b> &#8211; perfect for when you have several guests or co-hosts, this template can keep everyone focused<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b> For intros and outros<\/b> &#8211; some people use the same pre-recorded audio for intros and outros, but templates can help if you don\u2019t&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Name each of your templates according to what they should be used for and save them somewhere you can find them easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, the goal is to make your life easier and make the job of podcasting less stressful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more processes you have, the more efficient you will become!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Writing a podcast script using a template can save you time, provide consistency in the format of your episodes, and help keep you on-track if you have guests on your show.
